Library Newsletter Issue 72 – December 2023

A new issue of the Library Newsletter is now available. This issue begins with news of our latest (and very keenly awaited) facility for users: a phone booth. Sally takes us through some key features of the new and much-improved catalogue interface; Tracey writes about the Commonwealth law collection, with particular emphasis on online resources; James, inspired by the Ridley Scott biopic, digs out some contemporary accounts of Napoleon’s defeat and exile (all from the Library’s own collections). We also reflect on nearly two years back in the permanent Library building, and feature some of the latest publications added to the collection.

Westlaw UK and Practical Law – 12 Tips of Christmas

Throughout December, Westlaw will be holding 20-minute festive themed training sessions focusing on specific functionality and content from Westlaw UK and Practical Law.

Opening Hours in December

The Library will close at 6.00pm on Wednesday 6 December because of the train strikes on that day. We are open on Saturday 9 December 10.00am to 5.00pm. See the Christmas opening times of all four Inn Libraries.

Wednesday 1 November

Following on from the power outages yesterday, the Library will not open this morning. Please check here or our social media accounts for updates as we receive them. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Update: the Library will remain closed for the rest of the day.

Early Closures

The Library is closed from 2pm on Tuesday 31 October because of a power outage across the building. The Library is also closed from 3pm on Wednesday 1 November to prepare for Grand Day. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Lunchtime Sessions

A series of lunchtime sessions will take place in October to help with your legal research skills.

Train Strike

Library Newsletter Issue 71 – September 2023

This issue includes news about Saturday opening this coming legal term, and about numerous forthcoming induction/training events (as well as reports on some that have taken place already), and features entitled ‘How the Library Helps Members at Key Points in Their Career’ and ‘New Acquisitions’.

New Books List July – September 2023

A list of New Law Titles and Editions received by the Library between July and September 2023 has just been published.

White Book Training via Westlaw

The Library has organised training on using the White Book on Westlaw via MS Teams. This will take place on Tuesday 10 October from 5.00pm to 5.45pm. Please register your place via this link.
